Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell is an American chef television personality and an instructor from the Institute of Culinary Education. Burrell hosts Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, and is also the host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network star with her trademark long, blonde hair with a exuberant personality, shares easy to learn techniques and eliminates intimidation of restaurants dishes in her show Secrets of a Restaurant. Chef Burrell has worked for a time in New York at top restaurants and studied the Italian culinary practices and the landscape. Additionally, she competed as Iron Chef America on Food Network. Burrell is a native of the Upstate and grew up within New York State's Upstate, discovered a love of cooking. The Culinary Institute of America is where she went following her graduation with an English degree and a Communications certificate at Canisius College Buffalo NY. She states "I enjoyed being a Culinary Institute of American student. I enjoyed every moment." Culinary Institute of America was a great place to study. Following graduation at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and Chef Burrell spent an entire year in Italy learning and working in La Taverna del Lupo restaurant in Umbria as well as La Bottega del 30 one Michelin star restaurant in Tuscany. When she was in Italy she gained an appreciation and knowledge of Italian cuisine. This had an enormous effect on the way she thinks about food. Burrell has served on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which brightens the lives of children facing obstacles and is also a Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation celebrity ambassador where she advocates for the awareness of juvenile diabetes. She frequently travels around the country in her role in the capacity of mentor and guest speaker where she discusses her career and love of cooking. Anne, throughout her entire cooking journey, has said that it is a privilege to be able to share this passion for life with others.
